My 2013 Goals

In 2013 I have some ambitious goals. I wanted to write them out and share them with everyone so you can help encourage me. Publicly displaying my goals, while nerve wracking, also serves a method to keep me accountable. Don’t let me slip.

1) Record an album of 10 songs, orginals and covers

I’ve been playing guitar since my Sophomore year of college. Armed with GarageBand, my acoustic guitar, and a microphone this year I want to record an album of songs. Mostly covers however I do have a few originals I borrowed the chords and melody from other songs and added my own Spanish lyrics.

2) Fluency in Spanish

In 2013 I have some ambitious goals. I wanted to write them out and share them with everyone so you can help encourage me. Publicly displaying my goals, while nerve wracking, also serves a method to keep me accountable. Don’t let me slip.

2) Fluency in Spanish

I’ve got the 80 and this year I go for the remaining 20. Understanding groups of native speakers will be my focus for achieving fluency in 2013.

3) Travel to 4 or more countries

Traveling is a passion of mine. Last year I traveled to 6 different countries outside the US (Canada, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina twice). This was a pretty heavy travel year so I’m scaling it back to 4 countries this year.

4) Find Love

‘Nuff said

5) Find a passionate job

Each morning I want to wake passionate about the tasks I need to accomplish. I’ve had days like this in my current job but unforutnatley they’re few and far between. So this year I either need to understand what’s driving those days and create more of them or pursue another opportunity which gives me that drive.

6) Get Fit – 6 pack, 165 lbs and 6% body fat

I’ve always been into fitness. But this year I step it up and get into the best shape of my life. As hard metrics I’m shooting for a visible 6 pack, 165 lbs at 6% body fat. I’ve never had a problem sticking to my workout regiment.

7) Help Others – Build photography business for Dad

My Dad has a passion for photography. His photos are amazing. Several of his nature shots have won awards at the Sonoma County fair. He’s done several weddings and those too have come out incredible. Unfortunately he’s bad with computers. Like trouble logging into email bad. And in the age of digital photography and online businesses this knowledge is mandatory for a thriving photography business. So I’m going to run the computer element and help him get a business that provides him some side revenue.

8) Help Others – Build Spanish tutor business for Girlfriend

My girlfriend is planning to come to the US in 2013. She is from Cordoba, Argentina and will be here on a tourist visa. To make money ordinary jobs are out. So I’m planning on setting up a Spanish tutoring business to provide some money. She has never taught Spanish lessons but she is willing to give it a try.

9) Build blog with 50 posts

Pretty straight forward.

10) Passive Income of $50 per month

I dream of the day where I’m pulling in a steady income through passive channels. That would really enable a location free lifestyle and give me so much more freedom. I have no idea where to start for generating passive income but by the end of 2013 I want to be making $50 / month. Lots of unknown on this one but we’ll see.

So there you have it. 10 goals for 2013. Are they are all accomplishable? Probably not all in 2013 but if I can hit a 70% success rate than I can proud of the year that I had.

I’ll be using this blog to track the various the goals so stay tuned for updates as the year progresses.

Stay tuned!

Note: I actually wrote this post in January but am now just getting it up here on this site.
